Mandate

The Bangladesh Institute of Democracy and Development (BIDD) is a multi-disciplinary organization for academic and policy-oriented action research on development issues, sustaining democracy and ensuring peace and security issues mainly in the context of Bangladesh and South Asia.

The mission is to facilitate learning in right base democratic development solutions by conducting credible research, fostering policy dialogue, disseminating policy options, and developing coalitions to promote informed participatory policy making for a secure, develop democratic society.

Towards a secure, develop, corruption free democratic society.

1.To be premier resource centre on democracy, non-traditional security and sustainable development issues in Bangladesh and South Asia;
 
2.Initiate national and regional collaborative academic and action research to understand the tri angle relations between democracy, security and development issues.
 
3.To collect information and generate data, conduct investigations, undertake research projects for purposes of planning and policy recommendation;
 
4.To function as an outfit for initiating and conducting study, research and dissemination of knowledge in the field of democracy, non traditional security and sustainable development issues and other social science related to policy advocacy and planning for national development, towards a secure and democratic society.
 
5. To provide measures to bridge the gap between the academics, development workers, civil society, law enforcement agencies, activists, mass people and policy makers thereby generating better conceptual frameworks that in turn will lead to the development of practical strategies and policies for enhancing democracy, security and sustainable development.

Vision

Bangladesh Institute of Democracy and Development (BIDD) is a  non-government, non-profit making and non-partisan research base policy advocacy institute which is solely devoted to the cause of democracy, security and sustainable development issues, civil society awareness, social welfare and other compassionate activities towards a secure, develop, corruption free democratic society. The Institute (BIDD) consists of the following wings/departments:

 

a) Representative and Parliamentary Affairs (RPA) wing
b) Security Studies Wing (SSW) and
c) Sustainable Development Wing (SDW), under a research umbrella.

All three wings/departments have both intellectual and logistical resource-base that is unmatched in the country. Each of the wing is highly professional, unparallel in functional efficiency and strategically organized to provide ample scope for future expandability and relentless enhancement of service quality.
