The Institute decides to publish a semiannual peer reviewed journal title "Security Scripts". The journal will cover all relevant issues impinging on politics, security and development matrix of the world in general, Asia in particular and Bangladesh in specific. It strives especially to promote a new level of intellectual cooperation and make a bridge between practitioners; academia, professional communities and activists at all level committed to a secured develop democratic society. Security Studies Wing (SSW) 

 

The Security Studies wing (SSW) of Bangladesh Institute of Democracy and Development (BIDD) is the first center of its kind in Bangladesh dedicated to the study, research and analysis the socio-political, natural and civil rights related issue on security point of view. The wing seeks to integrate academic theory with practical knowledge, which is essential for a complete and comprehensive understanding security threats from political, religious and vulnerable motivated groups. It is also designed for comprehensive research on nontraditional security issue, especially health, food, social, ICT, environmental and climate security issues.  Its research staff comprises functional and they are drawn from academia, professional researcher and journalist.
 
The functions of SS wing are as follows:

  • To periodically produce accurate and timely annotated analysis of the security including Health, Education, Food and Environment security and human rights situation in Bangladesh and the South Asian region, which will be useful to various actors working to deepen democracy and prevent conflict in the region and beyond;

  • To assist the defense and security sector review process globally with a particular focus on South Asian countries on the basis of national consensus developed from the bottom up;

  • To encourage a dialogue between South Asian and global civil society, governments and the people representative on political reform, conflict and crime prevention;

  • To function as an outfit for initiating and conducting study, research and dissemination of knowledge in the field of non traditional security particularly- Food Security, Health Security, Climate Security, extremisms, fundamentalism and terrorism issues and other social science related to policy advocacy and planning for national development and towards a secure and democratic society;

  • To plan, design, conduct and run comprehensive training programs, seminars, symposium, dialogues, discussion, conferences and workshops or management of international and regional peace and security, socio-economic and human resources development.
